I only have 1 other surgery experience and while that was very positive and what I thought was as good as it can be, this was better. I am surprised by how much time I had talking to the entire staff from the doctors to the nurses. Everyone knew my wife and my names. They asked us about our recent trip, the injury itself, and some other small talk. I know several of the questions are for collecting data but the added small talk made us feel comfortable. We then spent time talking through every step or drug (general anesthesia). During pre op I asked if one of my metrics was good enough and he replied with something like we expect perfection, there is no good enough. Dr. Dragoo genuinely seemed to care and wanted to make sure I understood the whole process and recovery plan. He would say what he was going to do and then repeat in layman's terms. His confidence in the whole thing got me pumped up like a pregame speech. Even the person who assisted me out to the car after, struck up a conversation and was sharing music suggestions with me. Also compared to my other surgery experience, there was a much larger focus on pain management options to avoid taking narcotics. I really appreciate that as someone who does not want to take any narcotic. I have met two physical therapists and both have
been great. The workout area feels more like a trendy gym which may not be for everyone.
